Net ID
Students who have accepted the offer from Duke Kunshan University will be matriculated soon and each of them will be automatically assigned a NetID in the next few days.
What is a NetID?
A NetID is a unique user ID assigned to each student. You will need your NetID to access your Duke Kunshan email account, digital file storages, Student Information System, Sakai (for course information), computer labs and more. It would also grant you access to quite many computing resources of Duke.
Receive and Activate Your NetID
Your NetID will be emailed to you with instructions on how to activate your NetID online, once you are matriculated by our Admission Officer in the university system. Make sure to choose a strong password, since you'll use your NetID to access personal and sensitive information. Remember: never share your password.
You may change your password and your settings using the Account Self Service Tool.
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)
After you have activated your NetID, you are required to register for multi-factor authentication (MFA) at https://idms-mfa.oit.duke.edu. MFA provides an additional layer of security when logging in and is required for many DKU and Duke Services.
When logging in using MFA, a user is required to verify their identity using a second factor, typically via a phone or separate passcode. And the fastest way to authenticate is to through the Duo Push app.
Download the Duo app from the App Store or GooglePlay, then use the "Replace or Update Device" link to receive a QR code to link your device. You may also request temporary passcodes in advance of travel, use a Yubikey or get passcodes even when off-line using the key icon in Duo.
