Some Duke-licensed software applications may be downloaded and used by DKU students, faculty and staff. Duke’s Office of Information Technology maintains an online site for downloading licensed software at http://oit.duke.edu/software.
For each software program listed on the OIT web site, please carefully review whether it may be downloaded and installed at DKU. Due to licensing restrictions, there are some limitations on what Duke software may be used by DKU students, faculty and staff.
DKU students (including Duke students studying at DKU) | DKU students are also enrolled as Duke students and may download any software a Duke “student” may, except if:
|
DKU faculty/staff | Faculty and staff who are hired and paid by DKU may download and install those software programs that Duke “affiliates” are eligible to use, except if:
Please note that many Duke-licensed applications, including Microsoft Office, are not licensed for use by “affiliates” and therefore may not be downloaded from the OIT web site by DKU faculty/staff. However, Symantec Endpoint Protection (antivirus) and Cisco AnyConnect are licensed for use by DKU faculty/staff. If you are not eligible for a Duke software program that is needed for DKU instruction or university business, please contact DKU IT and request that DKU purchase the software on your behalf. |
Duke faculty teaching at DKU Duke staff traveling (short-term) to DKU | Faculty/staff who are hired and paid by Duke but who are teaching at or on short-term visit to DKU may download and install any software programs that Duke “faculty” are eligible to use, except if:
If the software program is limited to use only on Duke-owned computers, you may download and use the program on any Duke-owned computer (such as your faculty laptop) brought with you to DKU. However, such programs may not be downloaded onto a DKU-purchased computer. |
