Times Higher Education (THE), the global data and media company, has appointed Jessica Sandberg, dean of international enrollment management at Duke Kunshan, to its new Student Advisory Board.
The board will advise THE’s student business as it seeks to provide guidance to 14 million prospective international students, as well as ensure diversity, best practice, transparency and scrutiny, THE said in a news release.
Sandberg is among six international higher education leaders who have so far joined the board. Wendy Alexander, vice principal (international) at the University of Dundee and an international trade envoy for the Scottish government, will serve as chair. Other members come from Coventry University in the U.K., the National University of Singapore, Australia’s University of Sydney, and American University in Washington, D.C.
‘It’s truly an honor to serve alongside this esteemed group of peers from around the globe,’ said Sandberg. ‘I look forward to a valuable exchange of ideas and insights as we begin to envision a new chapter for international education in a post-pandemic world.’
Sandberg joined Duke Kunshan in 2018 after serving for six years as the inaugural director of international admissions for Temple University in the United States. She currently serves as chair of the International Enrollment Management Knowledge Community at NAFSA, the world’s largest nonprofit association of international educators.
Patrick Hayes, chief development officer at THE, said the new Student Advisory Board will play an essential role in helping THE provide students with the proper guidance as they make a decision that could affect the rest of their lives.
‘It’s a pleasure to have some of the most prominent thought-leaders from the international education community on the board,’ he said.
