Sze Chai Kwok, associate professor of cognitive neuroscience at Duke Kunshan, has been elected as a member of the Memory Disorders Research Society (MDRS), a global organization dedicated to the study of memory.

Founded in 1988 by Laird Cermak, a Boston University neuropsychologist, MDRS welcomes professionals from around the world engaged in basic and clinical research into how memory works and why it breaks. Membership is by invitation.

“It’s an honor to be elected into this learned society and to join such a talented community of researchers,” he said. “I look forward to sharing my work and exchanging ideas and inspiration with my fellow MDRS members.”

Kwok’s cutting-edge research lies at the intersection among neuroscience, behavior, and psychology. An award-winning scientist, he has published academic papers in leading journals including Science, eLife and the Journal of Neuroscience.

In addition to teaching, Kwok directs a laboratory in Shanghai focused on the study of episodic memory, metacognition and other higher cognitive processes in primate species.
