The Planetary Ethics and Artificial Intelligence Lab (PETAL) will conduct original research into the future of the humanities, and will train students in conducting humanistic research. A number of activities are planned throughout the year.
Six student fellows will be selected to work with the co-directors. Students will attend lab meetings, carry out research tasks under the supervision of the co-directors, receive training in humanistic research to carry out an independent research project, and organize a one student event each semsester. Fellows receive a stipend of 3,000 RMB per semester. Learn how to apply to the fellowship program.
PETAL will invite researchers and artists working in the areas of artificial intelligence and planetary ethics to discuss their current research projects at four colloquium events throughout the year. Events will be open to the whole DKU community, and student fellows will be expected to attend the events, interview the researchers and produce podcasts and colloquium reports.
